Blue256 is committed to protecting your valuable data, residing on our servers. We follow best practices to ensure data security. The servers on which Blue256's accounts reside are continuously monitored for any attempted network attacks on a 24 x 7 basis, using sophisticated software tools.
Your data resides on RAID-protected industry leading NAS/SAN storage devices with multiple levels of redundancy. Also, regular backups of your data are maintained on separate RAID-protected devices online, to quickly recover from any software or hardware failures.
SECURITY FEATURES
ENCRYPTION
Your data and authentication information is encrypted on transfer and storage. While installing the Blue256's Remote Backup application, you can provide your private encryption key (known only to you and not stored anywhere on our servers) or opt for the system-based encryption key. We recommend that you choose your own private encryption key to maintain utmost data confidentiality.
PHYSICAL SECURITY
Blue256's highly secure backup environment is hosted at our data centre in Norfolk. The facilities are air-conditioned to a constant temperature with IT equipment which is replaced every 3 years to ensure extremely high reliability. Physical security is assured with smoke detection, theft prevention and fire suppression systems, including intruder alarms, motion sensors, and 24/7 video camera surveillance.
BACKUP OF BACKUPS
Your data resides on RAID-protected industry leading storage devices with multiple levels of redundancy. In addition, data is periodically backed up to another set of devices for additional security.
Note: Blue256 DOES NOT store your private encryption key on the servers.
We recommend that you archive it safely for future use as you will be unable to decrypt (restore) data backed up to Blue256, without it. The private encryption key option is currently available only for the Windows platform, and not the Mac OS.
